Last year I was introduced to the Sims games by a young friend of mine.  It was pretty cool, the way you designed your house, chose your career, it kind of reminded me of the boardgame Life that I used to play as a child.  But now I hear that there is a Sims game that is all about the pet.  You can even get a Sims 2 Pet program for you cellular phone.

In this standalone version of the game, players get to adopt a puppy, teach it tricks, and give it the love and attention it deserves. Like other similar titles, feeding, bathing, playing and cleaning up after the pup are all part of the duties.  This too includes reprimanding it and changing its behavior. WGWorld.com

 Another good program or game that I was introduced to is called Webkinz.  You buy a stuffed pet and then go online with some codes and you can design your pet's house, feed him, play games to earn money to buy food, its really cool for kids.

 So if you can't have a real pet, or you want your kids to see how responsible you have to be to own a pet try a game first.  It may save a lot of heartache in the end.
