I just found out about this program that is offered in the northwest of the US.
Reading with Rover is a non profit organization that has children with reading difficulties read to dogs that love to listen to stories. A child that may not want to read and mistakes in front of her friends can read without being judged by anyone but a floppy eared friend. The program sounds really cool and is offered in libraries, bookstores, and schools in the Puget area of Washington. I think it is a fantastic idea and maybe it will spread like wildfire. Check out their website for more information on how you or your pet can get involved in helping a child read.
