Do you own a pool?

I was reading my feeds this morning and saw this product that could save your pet's life if you have a pool.  The Skamper Ramp is can help protect your pet from drowning in your pool.  It allows your pet to exit pools without your help.  It is made of a really strong UV and chemical resistant plastic that is lightweight and durable.  The Skamper-Ramp can also be used at a dock or a boat.   The company says that it is easy to install and is available in most retail pet stores.

If you have a pool you may want to pool-proof your pet.  If a dog were to fall into a lake or river the natural tendency would be to swim to shore.  Unfortunately in a pool, everything looks like the shore line.  The basic idea is to take your dog into the pool from the stairs and lead it back out.  With practice, the dog should be able to be taken further out into the pool and swim to the stairs on its own.  This should reduce the chance of your dog drowning if it jumps or falls into the pool.  But the best precaution is to have your pool in a fenced area that is not accessible by pets or children.
