Tellington Touch

Coming from a background of traditional medicine for pets it was hard for me to accept alternative methods of helping our friends when they are distressed.  After trying out accupuncture with success with my old girl I realized that just like with humans sometimes traditional medicine is enhanced by using other methods.

Tellington touch has become quite popular with pet owners lately.  It is a method based on circular movements of the fingers and hands all over the body.  The intent of this is to activate the function of the cells and awaken them.  It is not quite necessary to understand the anatomy to be successful in speeding up healing or changing undesirable habits.  Tellington touch also helps to establish a deeper bond between pets and their owners through understanding and more effective communication.  People who use tellington touch or teach it say that it can help with healing as well as barking, chewing, jumping up, agressiveness, fear, car sickness and issues.

Using a combination of specific touches, lifts, and movement exercises, Tellington touch helps to release tension and increase body awareness. This allows the animal to be handled without provoking typical fear responses. The animal can then more easily learn new and more appropriate behaviors.  Working on specific areas of the body can also help with healing post surgery, or with injuries or arthritis.

So if you are looking for some alternative ways to deal with behavior issues or with your pet's health give the Tellington touch a try.
