Believe it or not today's title isn't as far fetched as it seems (pun intended). For years now scientists have been experimenting with dogs to train them to help sniff out potentially cancerous sells in humans. Now that progress has been made and in fact there are several dogs being used all over the world to do just this, South Korea has come up with the idea of cloning one of these cancer sniffing cannines. Cancer sniffing dogs are said to be able to pick out victims of lung, ***, and skin cancer due to a specific odor cancerous cells give off.
According to reports from several news sources this isn't the first time South Korea has cloned an animal in order to help deal with an issue. Last year the same firm cloned cloned seven drug sniffing dogs which are currently being used at customs check points throughout Korea. The doctors at the Seoul National University which are in charge of the cloning, have picked a 6 and ½ year old cancer sniffing dog by the name of Marine. "We are making clones of Marine. She is touted as having a world top cancer-sniffing ability. By making her clones, we want to promote studies into cancer-sniffing dogs" says a spokesman from the university.
With the subject of cloning coming up more and more everyday, many believe it's just a matter of time before the option is made available to pet owners who want to bring back their former pets. In fact one such procedure is already scheduled to be performed involving a California woman and her deceased pit bull. The procedure is expected to cost over $150,000 and the dogs name...Booger of course.
