Florida’s First Funeral Home For Pets Now Open For Business

We’ve lived in our current home going on six years now and during this time we’ve had to lay three pets to rest. Each were placed in a shoe box along with their favorite toys, buried under the centuries old pecan tree in the backyard, and marked with a small garden stone of some sort. And while most pets are laid peacefully behind our homes or disposed of by a veterinarian, a new facility in Florida has just opened up for those wanting a more formal send off for their four legged friends.

Located in Pinellas Park, Fl. the Pet Angel Memorial Center is Florida’s first official funeral home for pets. From goldfish to iguanas to everything in between the center offers the same services you would typically find for their human counterparts. Cozy plush viewing rooms offer owners one last chance to view their pet as it lies in a custom built coffin. The services run anywhere from $150 to several thousands of dollars depending on what the customer wants. In addition to cremation, burial, and memorial services, Pet Angel also offers several ways to remember your pet. Owners can purchase personalized art work of their pet, lockets containing ashes, memory pillows featuring pictures of their animal, and even symapthay cards to send out to all who attend the services. Says owner Colleen Ellis “ We started the business because I don't have two-legged children. All I have is four-legged children and I wanted her treated in the same way as the human funeral business, which is the business I come from."
