People like snakes as pets, I get that. I’m more of a dog/cat/bird person. I can even understand keeping a pig as a pet, but snakes just give me the willies. All that slithering and tongue flicking. Those evil eyes and sharp fangs….but I guess if people love them so much they want to keep one in a aquarium at home, I’m cool with that. What I don’t understand is how somebody could need one so bad that they’d risk going to jail over it.
It happened at the Preuss Animal House in Lansing Michigan and of course it was all caught on tape. Apparently an un-named female just couldn’t wait till pay day and decided that jail time was worth it if it meant she’d have the chance of owning a 22 inch baby boa constrictor (full grown the snake would have weighed 100lbs and been over 13 feet long). When no one was looking the woman opened the cage door and put it in the preferred hiding place for shoplifters the world over….down her pants!!!! That’s an extreme need to own a pet there devoted readers. I mean talk about nerves of steel!
Somehow the thief was able to get away with the non-venomous reptile down her pants, but not without taking a good look into the security camera before she left. As for the pet store owner, he simply had this to say “They like warmth, and don’t mind tight spots.I’m far less concerned about the person than about the snake.”
