Parrot Heads Turn To Pig Tales

It’s exotic pet’s week here at Scribbles N’ Bits and today we are talking more about pigs. If you missed yesterday’s post about tips on taking care of potbellied pigs, go check it out and then do yourself a favor by going to your local book store to grab a copy of “Swine Not? A Novel Pig Tale” Coming from someone who lives is in the South and has traveled to many of the places he sings/writes about, the latest book by Jimmy Buffett is a definite must read.  His latest in a long line of novels, “Swine Not? A Novel Pig Tale” tells the somewhat true story of  a pig living in secret amidst residents of an upscale Manhattan hotel.

Told from the perspective of the pig (lines include such words of wisdom as “Humans are hard to raise.”) Buffet got the idea from long time friend Helen Bransford who used to dress her pet pig up like a dog and parade it around the streets of New York “We smuggled the pig in and out. It wore a dog suit when it was on the street. It was box-trained. It went [to the bathroom] in a box under a table with a beautiful model tablecloth, so no one knew ... it was like hiding someone in your home that wasn’t supposed to be there.”

Rumpy the central character of the book is destined to join the ranks of other famous pigs such as Porky and Petunia. As for Buffett “It was funny getting into the mind of a pig and getting to observe humans. Along the way I was kind of swallowed up by the pig culture.” “Swine Not? A Novel Pig Tale” can now be found at a bookstore near you!
