The moment many have been waiting for (especially yours truly) all summer is finally here and it all starts Thursday night! Of course I am talking about the new CBS reality show Greatest American Dog. Yes this show has some the same aspects of other reality shows such as Survivor and The Biggest Loser, but what sets American Dog apart from the rest is that it mainly involves dogs and how they react to their owners. The show starts out with twelve contestants and of coarse their dogs, all living together and competing in a variety of challenges designed to test just who has the best pup. Each week one pair will be sent home and the winner receives a whopping $250,000!!!

Among the contestants are:

• Travis a 29 year-old bartender from LA and his 1-½ year-old boxer Presley.
• Michael an aspiring comic and his Boston Terrier Ezzie who enjoys dancing.
• Brandy a fashion designer who owns her own clothing line and is the owner of a 20-pound Miniature Schnauzer named Beacon who loves to watch herself on the computer.

CBS is pulling out all the stops on this one and counting on it to be their numero uno hit this summer. They have even gone as far as turning hot dog stands in Manhattan into Greatest American Dog stands (which sounds kinda gross if you ask me), talked grocery stores in Los Angeles to install speakers on pet food isles that immediately kick off a 30 second commercial the moment someone walks past, and even hitting theaters by including a promo in front of the latest Pixar blockbuster Wall-E. According to CBS Marketing Chief George Schweitzer “There’s a great base of people out there who would do anything for their dogs. Our motto is, ‘If you have a dog or have even just seen a dog, this show is for you”
