For those of you who love to cook (count me in) and also enjoy a good dose of daytime T.V. (me not so much) comes the latest announcement from the dynamic diva Rachael Ray that she will soon start her own line of dog and cat foods. Those that watch Ray on a regular basis are no doubt aware that for a few years she’s been mixing in a few pet recipes here and there to go along with the great looking people food she’s most known for. All sales from Rachael Ray’s Nutrish pet food will make their way to her at-risk animal charity called Rachael’s Rescue. As far as where the inspiration for the pet recipes comes from, Rachael has been mixing together some home recipes for her pit bull Isaboo for years. When asked about why she suddenly wanted turn her attention towards the pet food business Rachael told reporters “It seemed like not a lot of extra time to donate to something that could potentially raise millions of dollars for championing these little creatures that can't speak for themselves.”
So the question remains….just how good are Rachael Ray’s pet food recipes? Well here’s your chance to find out. Below is a recipe for Ray’s Power Pooch Smoothies. Mix up a batch, see if your puppy likes it, send us your review, and we’ll share it with the world!
1 (8-ounce) container plain yogurt
1 cup blackberries or raspberries or 5 large, hulled strawberries
1 mango, sliced
1 very ripe banana
