Puppy Love Sweeping The Country

We’ve all had a case of puppy love. Most of the time all it takes is a quick glance across a crowded room and suddenly we find ourselves wondering if we have met the person we were meant to spend our lives with. What do you do if your one true love turns out to be a dog though? Why you the two of you walk down the isle paw in paw of course.

If you’re confused, maybe you haven’t heard of the recent trend in which pet owners across the country are holding marriage ceremonies for their four legged friends. Pulling out all the stops, Puppy Weddings resemble human weddings in every imaginable detail give our take a chew toy or two. Even the vows are similar, just check out this recent quote from Dr. Jeff Steed who conducted a marriage between two tail wagers for the Humane League of Lancaster, Pa.” Forsaking all other tails, do you promise only to have paws for your mate as long as you both shall live. I now pronounce you furry friends forever, you may now sniff your mate.”

With an average of 10 marriages between two pups being performed every month in Lancaster, Pa. alone, many of pet shops that offer this type of service are seeing an increase in their business as high as 35%. Overseas one marriage between two pups is reported to have cost upwards of $7,000 and included a horse drawn carriage for the bride and groom. According to one proud pet owner “It shows just how much you really do care about your dog and that they are a huge part of your life and they are not just objects”
